Sleep Apnea Effects

Help – What is the best surgery for sleep apnea?
I'm scheduled for a UPPP in weeks six and am worried that it might not be the best be an option. I have already tried the CPAP and I can not sleep with him. I have scheduled another appointment with my ENT to discuss all possibilities. Here's the deal: My tonsils are enlarged and have since childhood. As far back as I can remember I've always had problems with waking during the night. I 'm not overweight (obese and certainly not). Would a tonsillectomy alone should resolve the problem? Or should some of the soft palate are removed as well? The problem is that a UPPP is very invasive, statistically has a low success rate in the long run, and sometimes have bizarre side effects. Who can give me some sleep apnea surgery Notes has had?
My husband just had this surgery, UPPP. It was terribly painful, but very effective. He had also used a CPAP with little success. This Operation was immensely helpful with his snoring, and waking. The recovery was pretty brutal, liquids and frozen things for the first few days at least. He still, three months later, has a few episodes of the things coming from the nose, but we just laugh at him. After 2 weeks, he said he would not do it again. Three months later, can he does not believe he waited so long to do it. I guess it depends only on your pain threshold and how desperate they are to resolve the situation.
